Executive Summary:
Adopt a Gold Resolution recognizing and celebrating October 15, 2020 as Sonoma County Peer Support Day in alignment with Global Peer Support Celebration Day (GPSCD). Global Peer Support Celebration Day provides peer supporters with a day to recognize their achievements. It’s a day to recognize and celebrate with other peers supporters within their organizations, states, and across the globe, the roles they play in helping their peers who are struggling with mental illness(es), addictions, and or trauma-related challenges move along the continuum of recovery, live their lives to the fullest , and in the community of his/her choosing. GPSCD is a day to increase awareness of peer support, peer supporters, and the valuable contributions they make in the mental health field.
