The current item submits recommendations for positions on the Independent Citizens’ Pension Committee, and requests Board approval to re-appoint John Hadzess, Bill Robotka, and Peter Vranich to serve an additional 2-year term ending December 6, 2026.

Discussion:

The Board adopted pension reform as one of its key priorities with a goal of ensuring a fair, equitable, and sustainable pension system for taxpayers and employees. In April 2017, the Board created the 7-member Committee to represent the best interests of the entire community in a non-partisan manner, and to help improve communication between the County and local residents on pension issues.  There are currently two vacancies on the committee. Community members who are interested in applying for a vacant seat and serving on this committee are encouraged to apply. Refer to the Committee’s website for more information: <https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/administrative-support-and-fiscal-services/county-administrators-office/projects/pension-reform/committees/independent-citizens-pension-committee>

John Hadzess has served on the Independent Citizens’ Pension Committee since his initial appointment on September 12, 2017, and is one of the original seven appointees.  Bill Robotka has served on the Committee since his initial appointment on December 8, 2020, and he is currently the Vice-Chair.  Peter Vranich has served on the Committee since his initial appointment on December 6, 2022.
