Executive Summary:

On July 23, 2024, the Board of Supervisors authorized the District Attorney’s Office to participate in the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) Family Justice Center Program and accept $300,000 in grant funding for the program.

On October 9, 2024, CalOES offered an opportunity to amend the award to provide an additional $11,470 in funds for this grant program, a total of $311,470. We are requesting Board approval and delegated authority for the District Attorney or their designee to accept the additional funds awarded by this amendment.

Discussion:

The purpose of the CalOES Family Justice Center Program is to support full operational multiagency, multidisciplinary Family Justice Centers with funding from the 2023-2024 State General Fund.

The Family Justice Center Sonoma County (FJCSC) was initially awarded $300,000 for the CalOES Family Justice Center Program for the term April 1, 2024 through March 31,2026.  On October 9, 2024, CalOES offered an opportunity to amend the award to provide an additional $11,470 to the program.

The funds from this grant provide the salary and benefits for one full-time time-limited Victim Witness Advocate I (FJC Navigator) for 24 months and a California Family Justice Center Network Alliance membership.

The additional $11,470 will fund the annual fee for Apricot, the FJC case management system.
