Executive Summary:
This item requests adoption of a resolution to recognize and express gratitude to Steve Herron for over 22 years of service supporting Sonoma County adult and youth workforce programs.
Discussion:
Steve Herron began serving on the Sonoma County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) and the WIB Executive Committee in 2000. The WIB is a group of key stakeholders appointed by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors to address workforce challenges throughout the county. WIB members are leaders in the community who represent business, industry, labor, education, and economic development. Their vision is to create a robust local workforce with the skills needed for today and for tomorrow. The mission of the WIB is to lead an integrated workforce development system to ensure the County’s economic vitality and quality of life.
As a result of the WIB’s leadership:
• Vital partnerships are strengthened between business, economic development, education, labor, and community
• Employers are valued as the pivotal link in our workforce development system
Steve has also been involved with the following Sonoma County workforce programs:
• Sonoma County Workforce Investment Board, Member and past Chair
• WIB Executive Committee, Member and past Chair
• Sonoma County Private Industry Council, Member
• Sonoma County Job Link’s English Language Learner Program, Member
• Homeless to Employment Program, Member and Business Champion
• Spirit of Sonoma Winner, 2003
The WIB requests that the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors honor Steve Herron upon his retirement from the Workforce Investment Board for his dedication and commitment to the work of the Sonoma County Workforce Investment Board, and thank him for his years of service to the Sonoma County community.

09-11-18: Gold Resolution recognizing Bill Nordskog for his years of service supporting Sonoma County Adult and Youth programs as a member of the Workforce Investment Board and Youth Education and Employment Services Council.
