Executive Summary:
The Human Services Department and the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority request approval of reappointing Carol Taylor, Stan Gow, Nancy Hall, and Richard Ruge to the Public Authority Advisory Committee for another four-year terms beginning June 26, 2020, and ending June 25, 2024.
Discussion:
In 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved By-laws for the Public Authority Advisory Committee and approved an ordinance to amend Sonoma County Code Section 2-362, replacing the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Advisory Committee with the Public Authority (PA) Advisory Committee. There are 10 positions on the PA Advisory Committee representing IHSS clients, providers, members at large, and one ex-officio member from the Human Services Department (HSD).
In June 2016, the Board appointed six members to the PA Advisory Committee with a four-year term expiring on June 26, 2020. Of the six members appointed in June 2016, four desire reappointment for an additional four-year term. The PA requests the Board reappoint the four members noted below to another four-year term beginning on June 26, 2020, and ending on June 25, 2024.
Carol Taylor - current or former IHSS care provider
Stan Gow - current or previous user (consumer) of personal assistance services
Nancy Hall - current or previous user (consumer) of personal assistance services
Richard Ruge - advocate for home care service delivery
There are currently two vacant positions on the committee and recruitment for these positions is ongoing. HSD and the IHSS PA will return to the Board with recommended appointments when applicants have been identified.
The ex-officio member is selected by the HSD and Eric Glentzer (Section Manager, Adult and Aging Division) is the current ex-officio member.
