Recommended Action:

Recommended action

Adopt resolutions terminating the October 22, 2019, and the November 19, 2019, proclamations of a local emergency in the Sonoma County Operational Area due to PG&E De-Energization.

end

Executive Summary:

On October 21, 2019, the Director of Emergency Services for the County of Sonoma issued a Proclamation of a Local Emergency related to the imminent and likely de-energization by Pacific Gas & Electric Company (“PG&E”) of a substantial portion of the County of Sonoma due to weather conditions that increased the chance of wildfires.

On October 22, 2019, the Board of Supervisors ratified the Proclamation of a Local Emergency by the Director of Emergency Services, and found that the circumstances of the de-energization as described in the Director’s Proclamation of Local Emergency did support and justify the proclamation of a local emergency.

On November 19, 2019, the Board of Supervisors for the County of Sonoma issued a Proclamation of a Local Emergency related to the imminent and likely de-energization by PG&E of a substantial portion of the County of Sonoma due to weather conditions that increased the chance of wildfires.

Staff recommends terminating the Proclamations of Local Emergency as the conditions that gave rise to the local emergency no longer exist.
