Executive Summary:

This item requests a fee waiver of $120

 

Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building Rental Fee - $120

 

Fee waiver - Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging requests a fee waiver for the use the North Room at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building to facilitate a community focus group on transportation access, barriers and gaps.

 

The County of Sonoma Area Agency on Aging, through a planning grant from Caltrans, will be conducting a study on the barriers and issues affecting transportation access for older adults and people with disabilities. As part of this study older adults and people with disabilities will have the opportunity to participate in a focus group and take a transportation survey designed to provide feedback on transportation challenges for older adults and people with disabilities in Sonoma County.

 

The Sonoma County study will run in conjunction with a larger 9 county Bay Area Study, Transportation Resiliency and Climate Sustainability (TRACS). The TRACS study is focused on people with disabilities and is coordinated by the World Institute on Disability (WID) of Berkeley, CA.

 

On November 18, 2018, facilitators from WID will come to Sonoma County to facilitate a community focus group on transportation access, barriers and gaps. Results from the Focus Groups will be incorporated into the TRACS study as well as the Area Agency on Aging Sonoma County Connected Communities Transportation study.

 

A wheelchair accessible venue that accommodates wheelchair accessible vehicles as well as wide hallways and doors for people with mobility needs is required for this focus group. The venue of choice would be the Veterans Hall on Maple Avenue is Santa Rosa. It is anticipated that 15 - 20 community members will attend this focus group.
