Executive Summary:
A team of Sonoma County volunteers has been hosting delegations from Vologda a number of times over the past two years with future visits planned. These programs have been organized and run without any city or county money, and no money is requested from the county now, or in the future, as a part of the exploration of Sister City status.
There has been a long history between Sonoma County and Russia, notably with the Russian American Company at Fort Ross established in 1812. In 2013 the Governor of Vologda visited the Sonoma County Museum and Fort Ross and Vologda is interested in exploring a Sister City relationship with the County of Sonoma.
