Adopt the resolution authorizing consolidation of the jurisdictions that have submitted a request for consolidation, as required by Elections Code 10402, and have measures to be placed before the voters or sufficient nominees to require election to be held on November 5, 2019. (Second, Third and Fifth District)

Executive Summary:

The Consolidated Elections are set to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.  Multiple jurisdictions have called an election in their areas for the same date and have requested consolidation as authorized by state law.  Elections Code §10400 provides that when two or more elections for local jurisdictions are called on the same day, they may be consolidated upon the order of the governing body or bodies calling the election.

 

Discussion:

Costs of the elections are shared between the entities involved pursuant to Elections Code §10416.  The full costs of conducting these elections will be billed to the involved jurisdictions following the election.

 

Copies of resolutions received in this office from special districts and cities wishing to consolidate with the Consolidated Elections are on file with the clerk.

 

As of August 9, 2019, the consolidation deadline, the following districts and cities have requested consolidation for the November 5, 2019, ballot:

Community Services District:  Occidental Community Services

Water Districts:  Forestville Water, Timber Cove County Water

Fire Protection Districts:  Gold Ridge Fire Protection, Graton Fire Protection, Bodega Bay Fire Protection

City:  City of Rohnert Park
