Executive Summary:
The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) Region 1 Board serves as a liaison to the ACWA Board of Directors and helps organize regional stakeholder meetings. The ACWA Region 1 Board ensures communications between regional members and ACWA staff, and helps implement ACWA’s communications, legislative and public outreach goals. ACWA has issued a call for nominations for Board members of the Region 1 Board of Directors.
This item requests that the Board of Directors adopt a resolution encouraging and supporting the participation of the Sonoma County Water Agency’s Community and Government Affairs Manager, Brad Sherwood, to serve as Chair or Board Member on the Association of California Water Agencies’ Region 1 Board of Directors.
Discussion:
Mr. Sherwood currently serves as Chair of the Region 1 Board and has expressed a willingness to once again serve as Chair or as a Region 1 Board member. The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) requires that nominees submit an official resolution of nomination from the Sonoma County Water Agency (Sonoma Water) indicating its support for the nomination.
If elected, Mr. Sherwood would serve as a Region 1 Association of California Water Agencies Board member for two years beginning January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2021.
Staff Recommendation:
Approve a resolution of support for election of Mr. Sherwood, Sonoma County Water Agency, as Board Chair or Member of the Region 1 Board of Directors of the Association of California Water Agencies.
