Title
Adopt a Gold Resolution in honor of Probation Services Week, July 20-26, 2025
End
Executive Summary:
This report recognizes national Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week 2025 and the role of probation departments in creating safe, healthy, and caring communities.
Discussion:
National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week is recognized by the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA), a 90,000 member-strong organization of community corrections professionals. During this week, we honor the compassion, strength, and determination of these professionals who create safer communities and help rehabilitate individuals in the criminal justice system while guiding them toward positive, productive lifestyles. The APPA’s theme for PPPS Week 2025 is Heroes Behind the Mission: Transforming Lives, Enhancing Public Safety. This theme highlights officers who have lost their lives and the families forced to bear the weight of losing a loved one. The Probation Department wishes to do our part in keeping the memory of those officers alive. Those officers spent their days trying to keep their loved ones safe and helping others successfully reintegrate into the community.
Locally, Sonoma County Probation is committed to reducing recidivism, fostering accountability, promoting positive behavioral change, and safeguarding the community. This mission is realized through evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally and gender responsive rehabilitative services delivered by highly skilled staff and through community partnerships.
