Executive Summary:

On June 19, 2025, the Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association (SCERA) amended its Bylaws to clarify some provisions relating to withdrawing members and correction of errors.  These Bylaws require Board of Supervisors approval.

Discussion:

SCERA amended its Bylaws, which govern retirement plan operations, to clarify the rules applying to withdrawing members with more or less than five years of service.  In addition, a minor change was made to the wording relating to the employer’s obligation to make the plan whole in the event the plan is unable to collect from a plan participant or beneficiary when an error has been made.
