Discussion:

In accordance with California Elections Code § 1001(b), a statewide election was held in Sonoma County on March 5, 2024. Elections Code §§ 15372-15375 provide that the elections official (County Clerk) shall canvass the returns, certify the election results, and submit the certified results to the relevant governing bodies for adoption within 30 days of the election and to the Secretary of State's Office within 31 days of the election. EC § 15400 further states that each governing body shall in turn declare the results of every election under its jurisdiction.

The County Clerk officially certified the results on March 29, 2024 and the certification is now being submitted to the Board for adoption as provided by law. In addition, the Statement of the Votes Cast, a compilation of all election results broken down by jurisdiction/precinct, has been placed on file with the Clerk of the Board. Official certified results for local measures have also been submitted to school district boards for adoption.

The Board shall, pursuant to Elections Code § 15400, declare elected the person(s) having the highest number of votes for all offices under its jurisdiction. In this election, such offices include County Supervisor Districts 1, 3, and 5; Democratic Central Committee Supervisorial Districts 1 and 3; and Republican Central Committee Supervisorial District 3.
