Executive Summary:

Adopt a Gold Resolution proclaiming September 15, 2025 through October 15, 2025 Hispanic Heritage Month in Sonoma County.

Discussion:

Hispanic Heritage Month is a nationally recognized observance that uplifts the voices, resilience, and achievements of Hispanic Americans with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

Hispanic and Latine/x communities have enriched every aspect of Sonoma County’s life and culture - from the arts, to education, business, science, public service, agriculture, labor, and civil rights; our Latine/x and Hispanic residents have made lasting and vital contributions to the prosperity and cultural vibrancy of our County, driving our region forward while preserving its cultural depth and linguistic diversity.

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma, in deep gratitude for the rich cultural, social, and economic contributions of our Hispanic and Latine/x communities, hereby proclaim September 15 through October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Sonoma County. They invite all public institutions, organizations, and residents to not only celebrate this vibrant heritage during this month, but to continuously uplift, honor, and invest in the voices, leadership, traditions, and dreams of Hispanic and Latine/x peoples-today and every day. May this recognition serve as a reminder of our shared responsibility to foster a community rooted in equity, dignity, and belonging for all.
