Discussion:
The Board of Supervisors established the Russian River Ad Hoc committee on January 13, 2026 as an opportunity for Ad Hoc members Supervisor Gore and Supervisor Hopkins to explore ways to improve collaboration across County entities working on infrastructure and ecosystem enhancements in the Russian River. The Ad Hoc committee, along with district and staff from the County Executive’s Office and County Counsel’s Office, met on February 13, 2026 to discuss the development of a charter.
The Ad Hoc discussed a desire to establish a comprehensive understanding of County activities occurring in the Russian River Watershed and to support existing relationships with regional partners to achieve common goals. As an initial step, the Ad Hoc requested staff to complete a comprehensive inventory of County-led efforts to understand the landscape of partners and to identify opportunities to break down communication silos that can inhibit ecosystem improvements across the watershed.
A goal of the Ad Hoc committee is to ensure consistent and timely information is made available to the Board of Supervisors, County staff, and external partners while acting as a forum for navigating complex, watershed-wide challenges.
Staff seeks the Board’s approval of the Ad Hoc charter.
