A) Authorize the General Manager of the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District to execute first amendments to two existing As-Needed Mowing and Wildlife Survey Services Agreements, extending the term of each agreement to December 1, 2026, and adding in aggregate $300,000 for a total combined contract amount not-to-exceed $600,000 as follows:
i. First amendment with Hanford Applied Restoration and Conservation, in an amount of $150,000, resulting in a total contract amount not to exceed $300,000;
ii. First amendment with Prunuske Chatham, Inc., in an amount of $150,000, resulting in a total contract amount not to exceed $300,000.

Executive Summary:
The Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District currently owns approximately 1,300 acres of open space land throughout the County. Portions of these properties must be mowed annually for fire abatement and to comply with local fire safety requirements. Properties are mowed every spring and if needed, again in the early fall. Additionally, wildlife surveys are completed prior to mowing to prevent negative impacts to wildlife from the mowing activities. Contracts were awarded by the Board in 2020 with two contractors to provide these mowing and wildlife survey services. To continue annual mowing projects, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District recommends extending the contracts with Hanford Applied Restoration and Conservation and Prunuske Chatham, Inc. for an additional three years and adding an additional $150,000 to each contract for a total not-to-exceed contract amount of $300,000 for both contracts.
Discussion:
The Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (Ag + Open Space) is committed to completing fire abatement mowing of Ag + Open Space-owned properties in an efficient and timely manner. Ag + Open Space is also committed to completing wildlife surveys prior to mowing in order to protect natural resources on its properties.
Ag + Open Space proposes to amend contracts with Hanford Applied Restoration and Conservation and Prunuske Chatham, Inc. to extend the term for each agreement for three years to December 1, 2026 and to add in aggregate $300,000 in funds, resulting in a total combined contract amount of $600,000 as follows:
1. First amendment agreement with Hanford Applied Restoration and Conservation, in an amount of $150,000, resulting in a total contract amount not to exceed $300,000;
2. First amendment agreement with Prunuske Chatham, Inc., in an amount of $150,000, resulting in a total contract amount not to exceed $300,000.
The two contracts were originally awarded by the Board on April 28, 2020 following a competitive request for proposals process. The contracts are set to expire on December 31, 2023.
