Executive Summary:
The Human Services Department and the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority request approval to reappoint Jan Schiller to the Public Authority Advisory Committee.
Discussion:
On October 20, 2019, the Board of Supervisors reappointed Jan Schiller to the Public Authority (PA) Advisory Committee for a four-year term, under the category of current or previous user. Prior to moving to Sonoma County, Ms. Schiller served on the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Advisory Committee in Alameda County for nearly four years. Ms. Schiller is a former special education teacher, and over the years she has served in numerous volunteer positions. Ms. Schiller participated in a year-long leadership academy sponsored by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
The purpose of the PA Advisory Committee is to provide ongoing advice and recommendations regarding IHSS to the Board, the PA, and the IHSS Program. There are 10 positions on the PA Advisory Committee representing IHSS clients, providers, and members at large. Of the 10, there are two additional vacancies remaining for current or previous user representatives on the Committee. Recruitment for these vacancies is ongoing and when applicants have been selected, appointment recommendations will be brought to the Board for approval. Members of the PA Advisory Committee are appointed by the Board as a whole and not by supervisory district.
