Executive Summary:

Staff is presenting for consideration and approval the 2026 Key Items Calendar. This calendar was previously referred to as the “The Calendar Items of Significant Interest.”

On November 17, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved board staff report template to include new policies which include the application of the Equity Toolkit. Several of the anticipated Key Items programmed for 2026 include recommendations for which an equity analysis will be expected to strengthen the information available for the Board’s consideration.

Discussion:

Per the Board Rules of Procedure Rule 45 <https://sonomacounty.gov/administrative-support-and-fiscal-services/board-of-supervisors/about-the-board/board-rules-of-procedures/x-other>, staff is presenting for consideration and approval the 2026 Key Items Calendar based on input provided by the departments. Every Board meeting will include consent and regular items. Regular calendar items should be reserved for policy considerations, major funding decisions, ordinances, public workshops and land use hearings or other public hearings required by law. The annual planned calendar was previously referred to as the “The Calendar Items of Significant Interest.” The content and purpose of the document remains that same. The intention of changing the name is to bring clarity to the purpose of the document. That purpose is to highlight select content throughout the year, particularly content that may have an increased interest to the Board’s constituency.

It is important to note that this calendar is not all-inclusive.

This calendar serves as a working document to assist in program planning and content development throughout the year. Dates are tentative until an item is published on an agenda. Content may be added or removed throughout the year.
