Executive Summary:
The Sonoma County Combined Fund Drive (CFD) steering committee requests the Board’s approval to conduct the 33rd annual CFD in partnership with the United Way of the Wine Country. This year’s campaign theme will be United For Good and will run during the month of March, with the goal of raising $250,000. The committee is planning to return to more in-person events this year, and requests $5,000 to fund the events, purchase raffle prizes, and create materials to post in county buildings.
Discussion:
The County of Sonoma workforce has been participating in the Combined Fund Drive (CFD), in partnership with the United Way, for over 30 years. The donations raised have helped fund the crucial work of our community organizations, as well as some county run programs and services. This year’s CFD will use the theme United for Good, which represents our collective efforts to do good in our community by supporting and uplifting those most in need. We can only truly thrive when our entire community thrives, and only by working together can we achieve the results we wish to see for everyone.
This year’s CFD steering committee has already been formed and is working to plan events during the month of March. In addition, employee campaign leaders across county departments will be available to assist employees who need help making donations.
The campaign will run from March 1 to March 31 with a fundraising goal of $250,000. A budget of $5,000 is requested to cover expenses including the purchase of raffle prizes and other donation incentives, as well as the printing of materials to post in county buildings.
Further, authority is requested for the Director of Human Services to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with United Way of the Wine Country for administration of the 2024 Combined Fund Drive campaign.
