Adopt a Resolution confirming new and renewed membership on the Local Task Force, affirming members for three-year terms

Executive Summary:
The Sonoma County Public Infrastructure Department (SPI) is requesting adoption of a Resolution confirming new and renewed members. The Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 (AB 939) required the Board of Supervisors to appoint a local task force for development and updating of the County’s Integrated Waste Management Plan. This plan includes a Source Reduction and Recycling Element, a Household Hazardous Waste Element, a Non-Disposal Facility Element, and a Siting Element. Consistent with AB 939, the Local Task Force (LTF) also serves to advise the Board of Supervisors on other countywide solid waste resource management and recycling issues.
On behalf of the LTF on Integrated Waste Management, SPI is requesting the Board adopt a Resolution confirming new and reappointed members for a new three-year term.
Discussion:
Background
The LTF on Integrated Waste serves as an advisory committee to the Board of Supervisors and Zero Waste Sonoma (formally the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency) on solid waste issues as well as assists with the development of and revisions to the Sonoma County Countywide Integrated Waste Management Plan. Current members have either been appointed by the represented Cities and County or volunteers representing public or industry interests in solid waste.
The term of the appointment to the Local Task Force is currently three years. LTF members have requested the Board appoint: 1. One new member in order to fill an existing vacancy in membership; and 2. Extend the term of an existing member for three years. This will bring the members list up to date.
Proposed New and Renewed Appointments
The following individuals are new or renewed appointments to various positions:
• Kyle LaRue, as the new primary to the position of Education Representative, for a term of three years from April 4, 2023 to April 3, 2026.
• Greg Carr, to continue as primary for District 1 Representative from April 25, 2023 to April 24, 2026.
On behalf of the Local Task Force on Integrated Waste Management, SPI is recommending that the Board adopt a Resolution confirming these memberships for three-year terms.
