Rule 50 of the Board Rules of Procedures states that the Clerk of the Board shall convene staff to review prospective countywide appointments and make appointment recommendations to the Board. The current item recommends the appointment of Kristina Lapinski to the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (Ag + Open Space) Advisory Committee as the Business representative for a two-year term beginning August 25, 2026, and ending August 25, 2028.
Discussion:
The Ag + Open Space Advisory Committee is comprised of 19 members representing specific designations: two appointed by each County Supervisor, three representing the Mayors’ and Councilmembers’ Association, two youth members, and one each representing agriculture, the environment, real estate or property appraisal, and business. While solely advisory, the Committee offers opinions and makes recommendations at the request of the Ag + Open Space Board of Directors or its General Manager. The Committee provides broad based citizen input on Ag + Open Space activities and acts as ambassadors for Ag + Open Space.
Kristina Lapinski is a strategy, communications, and partnerships professional with 15 years of experience working across sustainability and social impact initiatives. Through her work as founder of Heyday Collective LLC and in regenerative agriculture and climate-focused programs, she has built relationships with farmers, business leaders, nonprofits, public agencies, and funders, bringing diverse stakeholders together around practical, economically sound solutions.
She brings a collaborative, solutions-oriented perspective focused on supporting a healthy local economy, strong working lands, and long-term regional resilience. She believes Sonoma’s business community has a vital role to play in sustaining the county’s diverse agricultural, natural resources, and scenic open space lands for future generations.
