A) Adopt a Resolution calling a special election for March 5, 2024, on the proposed Improved and Enhanced Local Fire Protection, Paramedic Services, and Disaster Response Initiative and Sales Tax Petition, and combining the special election with the statewide election on March 5, 2024, pursuant to Elections Code section 1405(b).
B) Comment on the proposed Improved and Enhanced Local Fire Protection, Paramedic Services, and Disaster Response Initiative and Sales Tax Petition and consider taking a position in support of or opposition to the proposed Initiative.

Executive Summary:
This item requests the Board adopt a Resolution placing the proposed Improved and Enhanced Local Fire Protection, Paramedic Services, and Disaster Response Initiative and Sales Tax Petition on the statewide March 5, 2024, election, after the Board accepted the certificate of sufficiency brought by the Registrar of Voters at the September 12, 2023, Board meeting. It also provides the Board with the opportunity to comment on, and possibly take a position on, the Initiative.
Discussion:
At the September 12, 2023, Board meeting, your Board accepted the certificate of sufficiency brought by the Registrar of Voters after the Registrar of Voters determined that the proponents of the proposed Improved and Enhanced Local Fire Protection, Paramedic Services, and Disaster Response Initiative and Sales Tax Petition submitted the requisite number of signatures pursuant to Elections Code section 9110.
Your Board further directed the Registrar of Voters to bring forward a Resolution to call for a special election on the proposed Initiative and consolidate the special election with the statewide election to be held on March 5, 2024, pursuant to Elections Code section 1405.
The Registrar of Voters now brings the attached Resolution to your Board for approval, which will place the proposed Initiative on the March 5, 2024, statewide election.
Your Board may also comment on the proposed Initiative and consider taking a position on the proposed Initiative.

Narrative Explanation of Fiscal Impacts:
The Clerk-Recorder-Assessor-Registrar of Voters believe that the department has sufficient appropriations to cover the cost of the proposed Measure estimated at approximated $337,050 and covered by General Fund, due to budgeting for a November 2023 election that did not come to fruition. Should the department need additional resources to cover any additional costs, the CRA will work with the County Administrator’s Office to address and if needed, make a request to the Board for additional appropriations as part of Consolidated Budget Adjustments.
