Executive Summary:
Assemblymember Connolly introduced AB-99 Department of Transportation: state roads and highways: integrated pest management on January 9, 2023. AB-99 seeks to require the Department of Transportation (CalTrans) to develop a statewide policy (Policy) to use integrated pest management (IPM) on state roads and highways. AB-99 also requires CalTrans to annually report on its website the amount, location and type of pesticides used and requires CalTrans to provide a 24-hour notice before applying a pesticide.
AB 99 was heard in the Assembly Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee on March 24, 2023 and the committee policy analysis is attached. AB 99 is scheduled to be heard in the Assembly Transportation Committee on April 24, 2023.
This item seeks Board authorization to submit a letter in support of AB-99.
