Discussion:

On January 5, 2026, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation ordering that a Statewide Direct Primary Election be held on June 2, 2026. In addition to standard federal, state, and county offices being up for election, three local districts placed measures on the ballot:

Twin Hills Union School District (Measure A: Bond)

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) District (Measure B: Sales Tax Extension)

Bellevue Union School District (Measure C: Parcel Tax)

Elections Code section 15300 et seq. provides that the elections official (Registrar of Voters) shall conduct an official canvass of the ballots cast and certify the results. For state contests, results must be sent to the California Secretary of State within 31 days of the election. For local contests, results must be submitted to the relevant governing bodies within 30 days of the election. Governing bodies must in turn declare the results of each election under its jurisdiction and declare elected the person(s) having the highest number of votes.

The Registrar of Voters officially certified the results of the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election on June 25, 2026. Results for federal and state offices were sent to the Secretary of State, and results for each local ballot measure were sent to the appropriate local governing body. Finally, by order of the attached resolution, the Board of Supervisors officially adopts the results for county offices that were on the ballot:

                     County Supervisor, 2nd District

                     County Supervisor, 4th District

                     Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector

                     County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor
