Executive Summary:
State law requires that each local agency adopt a conflict-of-interest code identifying 1) those positions in which officers or employees make decisions affecting government spending (“designated employees”), and 2) the types of personal interests which could be affected by those decisions (“disclosure categories”). This item amends the conflict-of-interest code for the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) to include updated designated positions and disclosure categories.
Discussion:
State law requires that each local agency adopt a conflict-of-interest code identifying the agency’s designated employees and corresponding disclosure categories. Once a local agency approves their conflict-of-interest code, it is submitted to the code reviewing body for approval. The Board of Supervisors is the code reviewing body with respect to the conflict-of-interest code for all agencies whose jurisdiction is wholly within the County.
This board item involves the amendment of the conflict-of-interest code for SCOE. This item is being brough to the Board of Supervisors as the code reviewing body for approval. SCOE’s legal counsel has reviewed its conflict-of-interest code and it complies with the Political Reform Act. SCOE has been notified that the Board would consider this matter today. No one has requested an opportunity to appear.
