Adopt the resolution accepting the official canvass of the vote for the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election.

Executive Summary:

The canvass for the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election, has been completed and certified by the County Clerk. The Clerk is now submitting the official canvass to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) for adoption as provided by law.

 

Discussion:

The California Statewide Direct Primary Election was held on June 7, 2022. Elections Code §§15372-15375 provide that the elections official (County Clerk) shall canvass the returns, certify the election results, and submit the certified results to the relevant governing bodies for adoption within 30 days of the election and to the Secretary of State’s Office within 31 days of the election.

 

The County Clerk officially certified the results on June 24, 2022. The certification must now be adopted by the Board of Supervisors, which has the following offices under its jurisdiction:

 

                     Judge of the Superior Court Office #s 6 and 9

                     County Superintendent of Schools

                     County Supervisor 2nd and 4th Districts

                     Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector

                     County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor

                     District Attorney

                     Sheriff-Coroner

 

The Statement of Votes Cast, which has been placed on file with the Clerk of the Board, is submitted to the Board for adoption as provided by law. The Board shall, pursuant to Elections Code §15400, declare elected to each office listed above the person having the highest number of votes (with limited exceptions noted in Elections Code §15452).

 

The Statement of the Votes Cast has also been submitted to the Kenwood School District for adoption by its Governing Board.

On April 19, 2022, the Board of Supervisors passed Resolution 22-1047, authorizing the consolidation of the Kenwood School District election on a parcel tax extension measure with the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election.
