Executive Summary:

The Board of Supervisors are responsible for appointments to over 75 Boards, Commissions, Committees, and Task Forces. Vacancies and upcoming expiring appointments are posted on the County’s list of Boards, Commissions, Committees, and Task Forces website: <https://sonoma-county.granicus.com/boards/w/808bd6e42edf8e0f>.

Rule 50 of the Board Rules of Procedures states that the Clerk of the Board shall convene staff to review prospective countywide appointments and make appointment recommendations to the Board. The current item submits a recommendation for a position on the Spud Point Marina Advisory Committee. (Countywide)

Discussion:

The Spud Point Marina Advisory Committee must be appointed from a list of members representing the majority of the commercial fishermen who berth their vessels at the Marina. Five members - four must be commercial fishermen and one member-at-large.

The duties of the Spud Point Marina Advisory Committee include:  annual review of berthing rates; review miscellaneous rates and fees; make recommendations to Board of Supervisors; recommend revenue-producing ventures for consideration in marinas; recommend navigational aids needed for marinas; advice on safety items or safety conditions that may be needed; advise Board of Supervisors on current or future fishing industry trends which would have an impact on marinas.
