Discussion:
The Sonoma County Public Law Library Board of Trustees is a seven-member Board of Trustees. The composition of the seven-member board includes five Superior Court Judges, historically appointed by the presiding judge, and two members appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
The Sonoma County Public Law Library Board of Trustees (Board of Trustees) unanimously agreed on the Reappointment of James J Barnes and Sherie Hurd during their September 25, 2024, meeting. The Board of Trustees requests the Board of Supervisors approve their Reappointment for a term of one year. Non-judicial members of the Board of Trustees shall be appointed (or re-appointed) each year by the Board of Supervisors.
Sherie Hurd is an active and community-involved Sonoma County resident who has served as an appointed member of the Board of Trustees since 2017. Receiving her A.A. in Business Administration from Bryant and Stratton College, Sherie Hurd has served as the Executive Vice President of Empire College since 1987. The Board of Trustees recommends her re-appointment for a term of one year beginning January 2, 2025, and ending January 1, 2026.
James J. Barnes has been practicing law for over 30 years and served as an appointed member of the Board of Trustees since 1999. James received a Juris Doctor degree in 1981, has served on the Board of Directors for Food for Thought and is a current member of the Sonoma County Bar Association. The Board of Trustees recommends his re-appointment for a term of one year beginning January 2, 2025, and ending January 1, 2026.
