Executive Summary:
The item requests the Board of Supervisors' approval of an amendment to the agreement with Sonoma County Fair and Exposition, Inc. (SCF) to extend the agreement term from one year to five years. The agreement authorizes SCF to conduct the annual County Fair and act as an agent of the County to manage, use, possess, and operate the Fair and Fairgrounds. The amendment would extend the agreement term through September 30, 2031, with no other changes to the agreement.
Discussion:
On September 15, 2026, the Board of Supervisors approved a one-year agreement with Sonoma County Fair and Exposition, Inc. (SCF) to conduct the annual County Fair and manage, use, possess, and operate the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The agreement became effective October 1, 2026, and currently expires September 30, 2027. The agreement continues the longstanding relationship between the County and SCF under which SCF acts as the County's agent in operating the Fair and Fairgrounds. The agreement authorizes SCF to conduct the annual Fair, manage year-round Fairgrounds operations, enter into agreements for events and facility use, and maximize Fairgrounds utilization and revenue generation.
In approving the agreement, the Board directed staff to extend the term from one year to five years to provide greater operational certainty for SCF.
