Adopt a Gold Resolution proclaiming June 2023 as Pride Month in Sonoma County. (Countywide)
Discussion:
The celebration of Pride dates back to June 28, 1970, in New York City where many marched from Greenwich Village to Central Park in unity. The celebration was then recognized by County of Sonoma in 1992 when they approved a Pride Resolution. Since then, the month of June is known as Pride Month in the County. The County of Sonoma stands together with the LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, lntersex, Asexual, Two Spirits) community and celebrates the diversity that makes the County stronger. County of Sonoma’s vibrant LGBTQIA2S+ community comprises thousands of individuals, families, and allies who demonstrate pride in and commitment to the County throughout the year. The County of Sonoma honors their resilience and their contributions to the County.
