Discussion:
On November 16, 2021, the Board of Supervisors reappointed Dr. Wayne Downey to the Public Authority (PA) Advisory Committee for a four-year term, under the category of current or former consumer.
The purpose of the Public Authority Advisory Committee is to provide ongoing advice and recommendations regarding In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) to the Board, the PA, and the IHSS program. Of the ten IHSS Public Authority Advisory Committee positions, there are five remaining vacant positions on the committee: three for current or former consumers and two for community members. Recruitment for the vacancies is ongoing and when applicants have been identified, the Human Services Department (HSD) and the IHSS PA will return to the Board with recommended appointments. Members of the committee are appointed by the Board as a whole and not by supervisorial district.
Tiffany Lewis, section manager in the HSD Adult and Aging Division, is the current ex-officio member.
Prior Board Actions:
Dr. Wayne Downey was initially appointed by the Board on March 7, 2017 for a four-year term and was reappointed to a four-year term on November 16, 2021.
