Executive Summary:

The County’s 2010 Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan envisions a Class 1 public pathway along the Russian River from Healdsburg downstream to Highway 1.  A landowner adjacent to the County’s Riverfront Regional Park (Gallo Glass Co.) has offered, at no cost, to grant a recreational easement across their property providing the public with access to the Russian River shoreline in furtherance of the 2010 Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.

Discussion:

Regional Parks approached a landowner, Gallo Glass Company, which owns land adjacent to Riverfront Park.  Negotiations ensued resulting in an agreement in the form of an “Agreement and Grant of Easement” (Easement) which has been executed on behalf of the Gallo Glass Company. This Easement grants the public access to approximately 1,000 linear feet of frontage on the Russian River and allows for trails connecting adjacent properties. Authority is sought from the Board of Supervisors to accept this grant of an easement and to record the document.
